Many people don't want to post their picture out of insecurity about their appearance. If you share this attitude you need to change it. It just does not make sense. The fact is that most people that are searching the ads do not look like models or movie stars themselves. Some do of course, but they are in the minority, just like in real life.

Look at the people in a public place. Observe people in a movie theatre, train station or airport. Fear of discovery and misuse of one's picture are legitimate concerns. If these are major issues for you and you cannot afford to be discovered it becomes a no-brainer. Don't show your face! Why risk it? It makes no sense. Still post your picture though. Simply pose in a way that doesn't show your face. People can still tell a lot about you even if they can't see your face. If you're working with an existing picture it's a simple matter to block out enough of your face that no one would recognize you.
